In a small coastal town 1n 1889 Captain Josh Ward invented away to get a good rest on the warm muggy nights aboard his boat. Who would have guessed that over 120 years later, people all over the world would recognize his original Pawley’s Island rope hammock as the ultimate symbol of relaxation. If you’ve never spent a warm afternoon lying in one looking up to the heavens, you just don’t understand. It’s an ethereal experience.
Today we still use the original design to produce these sought after icons. We do have more sizes and colors, we now dip the spreader bars in marine varnish, but the experience is much the same. Today our most popular models are made from our soft as cotton Duracord rope, for its fade, mold and mildew resistance. We also offer fabric designs that are more user friendly if youngsters or pets are to join you in the hammock. For the ultimate in comfort the quilted versions may be your choice.
